Americans

When Americans are free to give, they help each other. That's why Congress must reject any legislative efforts to increase taxes on charitable giving and foundations.

Providing Disaster Relief

When natural disasters tear communities apart, private charities put them back together. Immediately following major disasters, charities are the first groups on the scene providing food, shelter, and medical care to victims. They stay in these communities and help rebuild homes, schools, and businesses until the job is done.

Congress: Don't Raise Taxes on Charitable Giving

A misguided proposal is floating around our nation’s capital. Some policymakers are proposing higher taxes on private charitable endowments.

The problem? Taxing foundations harms private charities and weakens what makes our nation strong – Americans helping Americans.

Private charities are on the ground in rural areas, small towns, and cities across America meeting the specific needs of those communities in a way government bureaucrats never could.

Below are just a few ways private charity improves the lives of all Americans.

Improving Education

Access to a quality education is made possible through the power of private charity. Major foundations fund charter schools, scholarships, and innovative academic programs. This gives millions of students and parents the choice in what education works best for them. Thanks to generous Americans, our students have more educational opportunities and brighter futures.

Helping America's Veterans

Private charities give America’s veterans the respect and support they deserve. Charities fund mental health services, job training, and community-building events for our nation’s heroes. These organizations play a vital role in caring for our veterans and helping them integrate back into civilian life and thrive.

Many Americans lack the skills and training necessary to fill jobs in our 21st century economy.  Private charity has stepped in to help train the next generation of America’s workers through jobs programs in essential trades. These initiatives are creating a stronger, more self-reliant workforce and a more prosperous nation.

Job Training for Workers

Private charity is Americans helping Americans. It improves our nation and helps people from all walks of life.
It should be celebrated, not hindered.
Don’t tax charitable giving.
